Once upon a time, in a land far, far away there was a small cabin where a young boy and his grandfather lived. The young boy was asking his grand father to tell him a story of when he was young as he did every night. The grand father looked at the boy with a smile because he enjoyed telling the boy stories of his youth. The grand father scratched his head and asked the boy “what kind of story would you like to hear tonight?”
The boy sat and thought for a minute and then asked his grand father to tell him a story about a great adventure. The old man smiled and asked the boy why he thought that he had been on any great adventures. The boy frowned and said ‘grandpa just tell me the story.”
So the grand father sat in silence while he thought of what to tell you young boy. After a moment he had found just the story to tell the boy. He started by saying to the boy “this story happened many years ago when I wasn’t quite as old.”
When I was a young man I worked on a boat and it was one of my favorite jobs. I got to see the world and meet many interesting people. One day while the boat was stop at a port I met a man that looked quite odd. He told me that he could make me a very rich man if only I could get him on the boat I worked on and brought him to a small island. I thought he just wants a ride but think the man was down on his luck I agreed. After getting the man onto the boat I asked how he would make me rich. At that moment he pulled out an old piece of paper with some writing on it that I could not understand and he said “by finding a treasure that every man desires, youth.”

It's pretty good, but I think it would be better if you describe the characters more. I can imagine the scene in my head but that scene is of the movie the princess bride I think... the begining of that movie, so I can't really see the characters you created.
I found it interesting, and I love the idea of it being the grandfather telling his story, but I kind of wish you would have continued it just a bit more.
