Obama’s speech is effective because he relates to the voters. He does this by telling personally stories and instead of making himself seem like he is above the common class he relates to them, in an effort to show that he is one of them. Also he relates his opponent (john McCain) to former president George bush. He does this to help show that he is the change that America needs instead of more of the same like he says his opponent is. The way that Obama uses the past to help prove his point is the major similarity to his and king’s speeches. Obama lets past experiences make his statements more effective just like king does when he refers to the position of African Americans before they were given rights. Obama uses the fact that Americans are unhappy with the way things are going to his advantage making the point that he to is unhappy and he wants to be that source of change for the people. That’s why Obama’s speech is so effective because not only does he have the facts and what he’s going to do. He also uses emotion to relate to the voters and not only dose he want to change things but he wasn’t to be the force of that change and tells the voters that change is something that is attainable and with him people will get that change. These are the reason why Obama’s speech is effective. The ability he has to connect with the people is something that can make any speech an effective one.
