Topic #1: People's Knowledge of the Wars.

The T.A.P. is people of all ages who want to know more about what is going on over seas. the purpose is to get people to want to learn more and maybe get involed.

Peoples view on the war that is going on differs. Some people don’t know anything, some people know only what the news tells them about it, and some know first hand what is going on. The problem is not everyone is on the same page as to what is going on.

The first group of people who don’t know what is going on is the group of people who are trying to pretend like nothing is happening. If not then these are the people who truly don’t see the value in human life. It is understandable if kids are unaware because their parents feel that they are too young to know about matters such as war, but for anyone older it is unacceptable to not know anything about what is going on. The truth of the matter is that people aren’t being directly affected by the war so it is easy for them to put it to the back of their mind, but if you know about a crime and say nothing you become as guilty as those committing the crimes.

The next group of people is those who only know what is going on based on what they see on the news. This has been proven numerous times as and ineffective way of getting information especially when the government wants to show what they are doing in a good light.  The means that news about the war gathered is also a problem. The news uses embedded reports, which isn’t a good way to get a non bias view of what is going on. The embedded reports even if they try and be non bias are going to show the military in a good light because those in the military are the ones protecting them. This makes sense any person is more likely to write something nice about the guys protecting them rather then the guys shooting at them. The reports are also not allowed to tell you everything that is going on because the government doesn’t want people knowing everything that is going on like the bombing of house and churches and things like that.

The last group is the people who know what is going on from first hand experience. This is the group who knows the most about what is happening because unlike Canadians and Americans this is happening in their country. If something like war is happening directly to people it is really hard to ignore and pretend like it isn’t happening. The fact is that the war is their every day life and a lot of innocent people are injured as well as killed. The statistics from www.unknownnews.net says that there are 8,813 civilians killed in Afghanistan and 864,531 civilians have been killed in Iraq. This has obviously impacted the people of the countries that the war is taking place in.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that the people who are willing to fit in wars are wrong and that I don’t appreciate what they are doing. That is the opposite I have a lot of respect for anyone who is willing to fight and give their life for peoples right to be free and safe. But the fact that the war has going on for this long is ridiculous and the impact it is having on the people of the country is not ok   if people aren’t willing to do something about what is happening they should at least make them selves aware of what is going on because it might just change their minds on getting involved in some small way.
